OMERO Archiving

The full version of the OMERO Storage Manager offers the same viewing functionality but also enables archiving collections of images to secondary hard disk storage. This tool can be used to effectively clean or purge the OMERO server from projects that can be removed for archiving because they are no longer required.

There are several ways to set up an OMERO Archive; to either automate these processes or to invoke them manually. The key to this is, that complete archived data collections can also be restored back in a simple and intuitive manner.

How to archive with Omero Storage Manager:

There are several archiving options available:

Archiving to secondary hard disk storage

• Requires network file system.
• Completely automatic writing/restoring of datase

Integrating with a (Tape) backup system

• Writes to a write cache
• Backup to Tape with standard (available) tools
• Retrieval requires admin intervention (restore dir)

Archiving to a Blu-ray archive system

• Blu-ray archive system -> network file system
• Completely automatic write/restore of data
